The Complete Tangier Experience — Built for Long Port Stays
If your ship is in port for 8 hours or more, you have time for something better than a checklist tour.
The Tangier Full-Day Shore Excursion is our deepest cruise itinerary. It covers everything in the 4-hour Highlights tour — Cap Spartel, the Caves of Hercules, the Kasbah, the Old Medina, Petit Socco — and adds the two experiences cruise passengers tell us they remember most: a camel ride along Achakkar Beach and a traditional Moroccan lunch at a trusted family-run restaurant in the Medina.
That’s tagine, couscous, fresh bread, mint tea, and a window seat over the cafe square Burroughs and Bowles made famous — not a tourist trap, not a cruise-line buffet.
The pace is unhurried. You’ll have time to actually photograph the cliffs at Cap Spartel, drink a glass of orange juice in the Kasbah, bargain (or not) in the Medina — and still be back at the gangway with an hour to spare. We’ve run thousands of cruise day tours from Tangier Med and Tangier City Port. Zero missed sailings. That’s the record this page is built on.
If you’re docked for under 6 hours, our 4-hour Highlights Shore Excursion is the right call. If you have a full day, this is.
Your Full-Day Itinerary at a Glance
Built around your real arrival time — adjustable on the day.
STEP 1
Meet & Greet at the Port
Your private guide is waiting at the terminal with a name sign. Quick intro, into a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, and we’re moving — no waiting for stragglers.
STEP 2
Cap Spartel & Atlantic Cliffs
We drive along the Atlantic corniche to Cap Spartel — the northwesternmost point of Africa, where two oceans famously meet. Lighthouse, cliff path, sweeping views. Plenty of time for the photos that make it home.
STEP 3
The Caves of Hercules
A short drive to the legendary Caves of Hercules, with the natural sea opening shaped like the map of Africa. We tell you the myth, the geology and the smuggler’s history — most groups get the postcard, you get the story.
STEP 4
Camel Ride on Achakkar Beach
Optional and unhurried — a 15-minute camel ride on the sweeping Atlantic beach, just outside the cave area. Skip it if you’d rather walk the shore instead — your call, no pressure.
STEP 5
Traditional Moroccan Lunch
Lunch at a family-run restaurant we’ve worked with for years. Choice of tagine (chicken, lamb or vegetable), couscous, or a seafood pastilla, with Moroccan salads, fresh bread, mint tea and seasonal fruit. Dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal) handled — just tell us when you book.
STEP 6
The Kasbah & Panoramic Views
We wind up to the Kasbah — Tangier’s old fortified citadel. The Sultan’s Palace gates, white-and-blue alleys, and the famous viewpoint where, on a clear day, you can see Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar.
STEP 7
Old Medina & Petit Socco
A relaxed walk through the Old Medina — spice souks, Berber weavers, hidden Riads, the American Legation if it’s open. We finish at the Petit Socco for a final mint tea where the Beat poets and the Rolling Stones used to sit.
STEP 8
Safe Return to Your Ship
Back at the cruise terminal with at least 60 minutes before all-aboard. Always.
Six Experiences. One Complete Day.
What you’ll actually see, taste and ride — not what the brochure promises.

Cap Spartel
Where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean
The famous lighthouse, the cliff walks, and the view locals come for at sunset.

Caves of Hercules
The Africa-shaped sea window
The most photographed natural opening in Morocco — and the legend behind it.

Camel Ride on Achakkar Beach
Optional, unforgettable
A 15-minute ride along the Atlantic. Or skip it and walk the shore. Your call.

Traditional Moroccan Lunch
Tagine, couscous & mint tea
At a family-run Medina restaurant we’ve trusted for years. Dietary needs handled.

The Kasbah
Tangier’s panoramic citadel
Whitewashed alleys, the Sultan’s Palace, and a view across to Spain.

Old Medina & Petit Socco
The labyrinth and the legend
Spice souks, Berber rugs, hidden courtyards — and tea at the cafe Burroughs wrote about.

What Cruise Passengers Say
Real reviews from real ships.
“
Booked the full-day instead of the 4-hour and zero regrets. The camel ride was a hit with our teenagers, lunch was incredible (the lamb tagine, oh my), and our guide Hassan never once made us feel rushed. We saw more of Tangier in one day than we expected to see in a week.

“
We’ve done shore excursions in 30+ ports. This was top three, easily. Fadi’s team picked us up at Tangier Med exactly when promised, the air-con vehicle was spotless, and the lunch they organized — a private rooftop table overlooking the medina — was the kind of thing you can’t book through the cruise line. Bring cash, bring an empty stomach.

“
I was the skeptic in the group. By the end of the day I was the one trying to book another tour for the next cruise stop. Cap Spartel at golden hour is something I’ll remember forever. Worth every dollar and then some.

Tangier Full-Day Shore Excursion — FAQ
Everything cruise passengers ask before they book.
The Full-Day includes everything in the 4-hour Highlights tour — Cap Spartel, Caves of Hercules, Kasbah, Medina, Petit Socco — and adds two things: a camel ride on Achakkar Beach and a sit-down traditional Moroccan lunch at a family-run restaurant. The pace is also significantly more relaxed; you’ll have time for proper photo stops, browsing the souks, and a real meal — not just a sandwich on the move.
A proper sit-down meal at a Medina restaurant we’ve worked with for years — not a tourist buffet. You choose your main (chicken, lamb or vegetable tagine; couscous; or seafood pastilla), and the table comes with Moroccan salads, fresh bread, mint tea and seasonal fruit. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options are standard — just tell us when you book. Allow about 60–75 minutes for lunch.
No. It’s included in the price, but plenty of guests skip it and prefer to walk along the beach instead. There’s no skip-fee, no awkwardness. Children love it; some adults prefer to take photos. Your call on the day.
Yes. Most cruise ships dock at Tangier Med (about 40 km from the city center). We meet passengers there every week, and the drive time is built into the day’s plan. You won’t lose time and you won’t miss any of the stops.
We track your ship’s real-time arrival, not the published schedule. If you’re delayed, we shift the tour start automatically — you don’t lose tour time and you don’t pay extra. If the delay is significant, we’ll compress the itinerary (always keeping lunch and the headline stops) and still get you back early.
About 2.5–3 km total, mostly inside the Medina, Kasbah and Cap Spartel. The terrain is uneven (cobblestones, some steps). Comfortable closed-toe shoes are essential. We can route around the steepest sections for guests with limited mobility — let us know in advance.
Three things: price (we’re typically 2–3× cheaper for full-day tours), size (you’re private, not on a 30-person bus), and flexibility (we adjust on the fly; cruise-line tours follow a rigid script and rarely include a proper sit-down lunch).
Send your ship name, port and date. We reply with a tailored quote within 12 hours. A small deposit confirms the booking; the balance is paid in cash (USD, EUR, GBP or MAD) or by card on the day. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before.
