A private Tangier walking tour for your group only: 2 to 3 hours on foot through the old city with a licensed local guide, from the Kasbah down through the medina and its souks to the Grand Socco, from $25 per person.
The walk starts at the top of the old city, at Bab Kasbah, the main gate of the Kasbah. Inside are the ramparts over the bay and the Kasbah Museum in the former sultan's palace. From there your guide takes you down through the lanes of the old living quarters and the medina, past the souks and Berber markets, to the Grand Socco, the square where the old town meets the new, and the Mendoubia Gardens beside it.

Meeting Point in Tangier
On foot, so no car. Your guide meets you at Bab Kasbah, the main gate of the Kasbah (we send you the location), or at your riad, the Grand Socco or another place in the old town that suits you. Send us your ferry times: we meet you at the port in Tangier and have you back 60 minutes before your ferry home. Spain is one hour ahead of Morocco in winter and two hours in summer.

Tip-based group walking tours do run in Tangier. You join a tour already planned on your date if its group agrees, and we confirm once they do. If no tour runs that day, we suggest a date when one does.

For a cruise stop, our shore excursions are built around your ship's hours.
What is included in the price?
Your licensed local guide and entry fees to the places on the itinerary, from $25 per person for your group only. The tour is on foot, without a car. If you stay further out, we can send a car for a small extra cost.

There is no deposit for most groups; groups of 11 or more pay a deposit of 40% of the agreed price to hold the date. You pay on the day in cash (US dollars, euros, pounds sterling or dirhams), by PayPal or by bank transfer; cards are not accepted. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before, and with no deposit there is nothing to pay.

Why Walk the Tangier Medina with a Guide
The medina is Tangier's old city: a hillside of whitewashed lanes and small squares below the walls of the Kasbah. Cars cannot get into most of it, so walking is the only way to see it properly.
A guide makes the difference here. The lanes are not signposted, and your guide brings out the history and culture behind every door, from the sultans' Kasbah to the writers of the international zone years. Tip-based group walks also run in Tangier; this one is private, for your group, at the time you choose.
From the Kasbah to the Grand Socco
The walk starts at the top, at Bab Kasbah, the main gate of the Kasbah. From its walls the Kasbah looks over the bay, and the Kasbah Museum fills the sultan’s former palace with mosaics, Moroccan art and the history of the region.
You then go down through the lanes of the residential quarters, where family life goes on behind every door, to the Petit Socco, the small café square at the heart of the medina and a good stop for a mint tea. The Grand Mosque of Tangier stands nearby; non-Muslim visitors see it from the outside. Past the craft stalls, the souks and the Berber markets lead down to the Grand Socco, the square where the old town meets the modern city, beside the Mendoubia gardens.
