Two weeks, three landscapes

The Atlas, the Sahara and the Atlantic in one loop

Tour Guide Tangier's 14-day Morocco itinerary is a private round trip from Tangier built around three of Morocco's great landscapes: the Atlas mountains, the Sahara and the Atlantic coast. Your Tangier-based guide and driver are with you from the first morning to the last, and local guides join in Fes, Marrakech and the High Atlas.

What sets it apart is time on foot and time to stop. You sleep in Imlil, a Berber village at about 1,740 metres below Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, and walk the next morning up its valley to the village of Aroumd. At the end come Essaouira by the sea, a night in Casablanca and a night in Rabat, so the coast road home is never a long day.

It suits travellers who like to walk, couples, families with children who enjoy the outdoors, and anyone who wants a first trip to Morocco that is about more than cities. The walks are on village paths and easy to shorten.

Good to know

Two weeks in Morocco: questions about this tour

What travellers ask before they book.

Still deciding?Ask a guide directly on WhatsApp.
How hard is the walk in Imlil?

Easy to moderate. The path from Imlil to Aroumd climbs gently through terraced fields and walnut trees, about two to three hours there and back at an easy pace, on uneven ground. Your mountain guide sets the pace and can shorten it, and good walking shoes are all you need.

Why spend a night in Imlil?

Because the mountains are at their best early and late, when the day visitors from Marrakech have gone. You arrive for the evening light below Jbel Toubkal, sleep in a Berber village and walk in the cool of the morning, then reach Marrakech, about an hour and a half away, in the afternoon.

Is two weeks enough to see Morocco?

Enough for the main regions at an easy pace: the north, the imperial cities, the Sahara, the High Atlas, Marrakech and the Atlantic coast. Places further south, such as the Draa valley, are left out. With a little less time, the 12-day round trip keeps the desert and the sea; for the same loop with more time in each place, see the grand tour, three weeks in Morocco.

Is this tour good for families?

Yes, with children who enjoy being outdoors. The long drives are broken up, the walk in Imlil is easy to shorten and the coast road home is split over two short days. Tell us the ages and we arrange family rooms, with child seats on request. For shorter drives all the way, see Morocco with kids, our 8-day family tour.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on your dates, your group size and the hotel level you choose, so we quote it for you, usually within 2 hours (8am to 10pm). The per-person price falls as the group grows.

Is a deposit required?

Yes, 40% of the trip price. Once we have agreed every detail, we send you an invoice and you pay the deposit by bank transfer or PayPal. It is refunded in full if you cancel up to 48 hours before departure; a later cancellation or a no-show is not refunded. The balance is paid on the first day of your tour, in cash, by PayPal or by bank transfer.
