Tangier on foot
The old town, straight from the gangway
Tangier's old town starts a short walk from the City Port cruise terminal, which makes this the one shore excursion that needs no vehicle at all. Your private guide meets you at the terminal and you walk straight up into the medina.
In three hours you cross the Grand Socco and the Mendoubia Gardens, wind through the medina lanes to the Petit Socco, and climb to the Kasbah for the view over the Strait of Gibraltar. A mint tea closes the walk before you head back down to the ship.
It suits short calls and anyone who would rather walk than ride. The pace is yours, with stops for photos, shopping and questions, and you are back at the terminal an hour before all-aboard.

Is three hours enough to see Tangier's old town?
For the medina and the Kasbah, yes: the Grand Socco, the medina lanes, the Petit Socco, the Kasbah and its viewpoint. To add Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules, take the 4-hour Highlights, which adds a private vehicle.
Where do we meet?
At the Tangier City Port cruise terminal. Your guide waits with a name sign as you come out, and the walk starts from there.
My ship docks at Tangier Med. Can we do this tour?
Tangier Med is about 40 km from the old town, so the walk needs a transfer there and back. Ask us when you book, or take the full-day shore excursion, which is built around that drive.
How much walking is involved?
About 2 to 3 km over three hours, on cobbled lanes with some steps and a climb to the Kasbah. Comfortable shoes are a must. Tell us about any mobility needs and the guide adapts the route.
Can we go inside the Kasbah Museum?
