The long drives cut in two
The classic route from Tangier to Marrakech has two very long days, which is hard with children. This tour cuts them in two: a night in Midelt on the way to the desert, and nights at the Todra Gorge and Ait Ben Haddou on the way out, so no drive is much over four hours.
The stops are chosen for children as much as adults: the blue lanes of Chefchaouen, the donkeys and workshops of Fes, the Barbary macaques of the cedar forest, a camel ride and sandboarding in the dunes, the canyon of the Todra Gorge and the film sets of Ouarzazate.
Family rooms at every stop, child seats on request and a guide who adapts each day to the youngest traveller. All ages are welcome.

Tangier to Chefchaouen
The blue city

Pickup in Tangier and a short drive into the Rif. Children love the maze of blue lanes: an afternoon exploring, a paddle in the cold water of the Ras el-Maa spring and sunset from the Spanish Mosque.

On to Fes

Fes at a family pace

A licensed local guide leads a shorter walk through the medina, full of things children notice: the donkeys that still carry goods through the lanes, the view over the tannery pits, and a pottery workshop where you can watch zellige tiles being cut and set by hand.

Fes to Midelt
The cedar forest and its monkeys

- Kasbah hotel in Midelt
Up into the Middle Atlas through Ifrane, a town of sloping roofs built like an Alpine village, to the cedar forest near Azrou, where Barbary macaques come down to the roadside. Watch them, but do not feed them. On across the high plateau to Midelt below the Jbel Ayachi range.

Midelt to Merzouga
Palm groves and the first dunes

Down the Ziz valley, a long ribbon of palm groves in a desert canyon, to Merzouga. In the late afternoon, a camel ride into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, sandboarding before sunset, dinner and a night at the camp.

Merzouga to the Todra Gorge
Desert music and a canyon walk

Sunrise on the dunes, then Gnawa music in the village of Khamlia before the drive west to the Todra Gorge, where the family can walk between canyon walls up to 300 metres high.

Film sets and a kasbah village

Over the High Atlas to Marrakech

Is there a minimum age?
No. Families with babies and toddlers travel with us. Tell us the ages and we arrange child seats and family rooms.
Are the camels safe for children?
The camels at Erg Chebbi walk slowly, led on foot by a handler, and children can ride with a parent. Younger children can go by 4x4 to the camp instead.
What if a child gets tired or ill?
The plan bends. Your guide can shorten a walk, add a rest stop or change the day, and there are pharmacies and clinics in every town on the route.
Is Morocco a good trip with kids?
Yes, at the right pace. This private tour keeps every drive to about four hours, uses family rooms, and saves the Barbary macaques and the camel ride in the Sahara for the days children remember. Tell us the ages and we adjust the plan.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on your dates, your group size and the hotel level you choose, so we quote it for you, usually within 12 hours. The per-person price falls as the group grows.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, 40% of the trip price. Once we have agreed every detail, we send you an invoice and you pay the deposit by bank transfer or PayPal. It is refunded in full if you cancel up to 48 hours before departure. The balance is paid on the first day of your tour.
