Chefchaouen after the day-trippers leave
Most visitors see Chefchaouen in a few hours in the middle of the day, when the medina is at its busiest. Staying one night changes the visit: the town at sunset from the hill of the Spanish Mosque, dinner in the medina, and the blue lanes early the next morning while they are still quiet.
The drive from Tangier takes about two and a half hours each way through the Rif foothills. Your guide and driver stay with you on both days, and the night is spent in a riad inside the medina walls.
It suits photographers, couples and anyone arriving by ferry from Spain with a weekend to spare.

Into the Rif and the blue medina

Pickup at your hotel, the airport, the ferry port or the cruise terminal in Tangier. The road climbs through the Rif foothills, with a coffee stop on the way. After check-in, a guided walk through the medina: Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the red walls of the Kasbah and the lanes of the old town. Before sunset, a half-hour walk up to the Spanish Mosque for the view over the whole town.

Chefchaouen to Tangier
The quiet morning, then back to the coast

Breakfast on the riad terrace, then the medina early, when the lanes are empty and the light is soft for photos. A stop at the Ras el-Maa spring where the town's water comes out of the mountain, time to shop for wool blankets and local goat cheese, then the drive back to Tangier, arriving in the afternoon.

Can we add the Akchour waterfalls?
Yes, as a third day. Akchour is about 45 minutes from Chefchaouen, and the 4-day Rif Mountains tour is built around it.
Can you pick us up from the ferry?
Yes. We meet you at the Tanger Ville port as you come out of the terminal, and can drop you back there on day two.
