At a glance
- We only collect what you send us to plan your tour, and visit statistics if you accept cookies.
- We never sell your data or share it for other companies' marketing.
- Analytics and advertising cookies load only after you say yes. You can change your choice at any time.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data by writing to contact@tourguidetanger.com.
Who we are
This website is run by Tour Guide Tanger, trading as Tour Guide Tangier, a team of licensed tour guides based in Tangier, Morocco. We decide how and why your personal data is used, so we are responsible for it.
Address: Villa Fadi, Av. Moulay Rachid, Tangier 90000, Morocco

What we collect
What you send us
When you fill in a booking or contact form, write to us by email or message us on WhatsApp, we receive what you give us. Usually that is your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, tour date, the number of travellers and the ages of any children, your language, your pickup place, and anything you add in the message, such as your cruise ship, your ferry times, your hotel or a shopping list.
If you tell us about mobility needs, allergies or diets, we use that information only to plan your tour, and share it only with the people who need it on the day, such as your guide or a cooking class host.
When you pay
We do not take card payments, so we never see card numbers. When you pay by bank transfer or PayPal, we receive the payment details those services show us, such as your name and the amount. For multi-day tours we send you an invoice with your name, the tour and the amounts.
When you visit the website
- Visit statistics and ad measurement, only if you accept them. Google Analytics 4 records the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser, and your approximate location. Google Ads conversion tags record whether a visit from one of our ads led to a booking request. When you send a request, your browser also gives Google Ads a one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address and phone number you entered, so Google can match the request to an ad you clicked (enhanced conversions). Until the thank-you page, that copy stays in your browser tab only, and it is sent only if you accepted these cookies.
- Spam protection. We use your IP address briefly to limit how many requests the forms accept, so they cannot be flooded with spam.
- Server logs. Our web host keeps standard technical logs, including IP addresses, for security.
- Your own device. The day planner on our activities page keeps your picks in your browser's storage. They stay on your device until you choose to send them to us.
Why we use it
We use your data only for these purposes, each with its legal basis:
- To answer your request, plan your tour and run it on the day. This is needed to prepare and carry out the booking you ask for.
- To send invoices and keep accounting records. The law requires it.
- To measure visits and our advertising. Only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To keep the website and forms safe. This is in our legitimate interest and yours.
We do not send newsletters, and we do not use your data to make automated decisions about you.
Who sees it
We share your data only when we need to, and only what is needed:
- Your guide and driver, to run your tour.
- The partners on your tour, such as the riads, hotels and desert camps of a multi-day tour, or the host of a cooking class: your names, dates, group size and any diets or needs they must know about.
- Our service providers: our web host, our email provider, Google (Analytics, Ads, Maps and the Google reviews shown on the site), WhatsApp (Meta) when you message us there, and PayPal or your bank when you pay. Each handles data under its own privacy terms.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
We never sell your data, and we never give it to other companies for their own marketing.
Where your data goes
We work from Morocco, so if you write to us from Europe, the United Kingdom or elsewhere, your data travels to Morocco. Some of our providers, including Google, Meta and PayPal, also process data in other countries, such as the United States, under their own safeguards.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. Until you accept, those cookies are not set and Google Tag Manager does not load.
Always on
- tgt_consent: remembers your cookie choice, for 6 months.
- If you are logged in to manage the website, WordPress sets its own login cookies.
Only if you accept analytics
- Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*): visit statistics, kept for up to 2 years.
Only if you accept advertising
- Google Ads (
_gcl_auand Google's own cookies): measures whether our ads lead to booking requests, kept for up to 90 days on our site.
Content from Google
The route maps on our private tour pages come from Google Maps. A map loads only when you press Show the route map: until then the page shows a drawing, and nothing is requested from Google. Once you press it, your browser connects to Google, which can see your IP address and may set its own cookies, such as NID, under Google's privacy policy. The Open in Google Maps link opens the map on Google's own site instead.
Some pages show the photos of Google reviewers. When they load, your browser connects to Google, which can see your IP address.
Change your choice at any time with , also in the footer of every page. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
- Requests sent through the forms on this website: kept on the website for 12 months, then deleted automatically.
- Our booking records, emails and messages: our booking system and our mailbox keep them for 3 months after your tour, then we delete them.
- Invoices and payment records: as long as Moroccan accounting and tax rules require.
- Visit statistics: for the retention period set in Google Analytics.
When we no longer need your data, we delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- see the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct it if it is wrong or incomplete;
- delete it;
- limit how we use it, or object to a use;
- send it to you or to another company in a common format;
- withdraw your consent to cookies, with no effect on anything done before.
Write to contact@tourguidetanger.com. We answer within one month, and usually much sooner. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act.
In Morocco, personal data is protected by Law 09-08 and supervised by the CNDP (Commission nationale de contrôle de la protection des données à caractère personnel). If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights given by the GDPR and can complain to your local data protection authority.
How we protect it
Only the people who need your data to plan and run your tour can see it. The website and its forms are protected against spam and misuse, and we choose providers that take security seriously. No system is completely secure, so if we ever learn of a problem affecting your data, we will tell you and the authorities where the law requires.
Children
Families with children are welcome on our tours. We only receive information about children, such as their ages, from the parent or guardian who books. This website is not meant for children to use on their own.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects a booking you have with us, we will tell you directly.
